YARA selects Norwegian shipbuilder VARD for zero-emission vessel Yara Birkeland

The world's first autonomous and electric container vessel is one step closer to launch, as YARA signs a deal with VARD worth appr NOK 250 million to build the vessel. VARD will deliver Yara Birkeland for launch in early 2020, and the vessel will gradually move from manned operation to fully autonomous operation by 2022.

Finnish Defence Forces Choose KONGSBERG Naval Sonars for SQ2000 Mid-Life Upgrade

Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded a contract by Finnish Defence Forces to deliver ST2400 VDS upgrade to the SQ2000MLU program for the Hamina-Class Corvettes fleet. The ST2400 VDS is designed to provide accurate and highly reliable performance for detecting submarines, mines and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles in Littoral waters.

KONGSBERG Coordinates EU-Funded Project to Enable Autonomous Navigation in Close Proximity

Hull to Hull, an EU-funded research project established to develop technical solutions for safer navigation in close proximity of other stationary or moving vessels and objects, is in its Concept Definition phase and will move on to the Technology Adaption and Integrations Work Package this summer.

Lower activity in defence in first quarter, outlooks unchanged

In the first quarter of 2018 KONGSBERG has revenues of NOK 3,554 million, and an EBITDA margin of 8.0 per cent. The order intake is NOK 2,939 million, entailing an order reserve at end quarter of NOK 14,814 million.

KONGSBERG Completes 10,000th AutoChief Propulsion Control System FAT

The 10,000th Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for Kongsberg Maritime's AutoChief propulsion control system took place at Kongsberg Maritime Korea in Busan. The AutoChief 600 system tested will be installed on a new LEG carrier featuring a 2-stroke MAN B&W engine being built at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, for owner Solvang ASA.

Technology for the ferries of the future
