In order to evaluate how representative fish data collected by the echo sounder are, fish reaction to the research vessel must be known. The sonar is a valuable tool to obtain information about fish distribution around the research vessels and near the surface. Simrad sonars provide a dedicated scientific interface for fishery research purposes.
