Kongsberg Maritime challenges boundaries with new space-based AIS delivery

On July 8 2015, ESA authorised the delivery of KONGSBERG's fourth generation SAT-AIS Receiver flight models, to the Norwegian Space Centre; for integration into the NORSAT-1 satellite. With this delivery, KONGSBERG further strengthens its position as a supplier of space-based infrastructure in the maritime domain.

Kongsberg Maritime sonar chosen for Swedish Navy fast patrol boats

Swede Ship Marine will install new Kongsberg Maritime Sonar systems as part of a major rebuild and lifetime extension of five patrol boats for the Swedish Navy. The new Sonars will replace the previous model SIMRAD SS576 Sonars first installed in 1996 on board the Tapper-class (or Bevakningsbåt 80), with the purpose to protect and patrol the Swedish coastal waters.

Kongsberg Maritime underwater cameras take the lead in uncovering the secrets of HMAS Sydney

Kongsberg Maritime's state-of-the-art OE14-530 3DHD video camera has produced a wealth of stunning imagery during an expedition to survey the historic World War II shipwrecks of HMAS Sydney (II) and the German raider HSK Kormoran, off the coast of Western Australia. The Western Australian Museum and Curtin University survey, which took place in April 2015, also used six OE14-408E digital stills cameras on two ROVs operated by DOF Subsea.

New Kongsberg Maritime and DNV-GL DP operator training scheme enhances competence and reduces time to certification

Kongsberg Maritime has become the first global maritime training provider to offer a new DNV-GL approved Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO) training scheme at its training centres worldwide. The brand new KONGSBERG Training Scheme for DP Operators is based on a combination of new and established DNV training standards, with the learning process designed by Kongsberg Maritime.

Norwegian Shipowners' Association chooses Kongsberg Maritime as Manila Training Centre Simulator partner

On behalf of The Norwegian Training Center in Manila, The Norwegian Ship Owners' Association has chosen Kongsberg Maritime to upgrade the simulation facilities at The Norwegian Training Centre – Manila. Signed this week at Nor-Shipping 2015 in Norway, the contract covers the delivery of new simulators and upgrades to existing simulators across all primary training areas including navigation & ship handling, dynamic positioning (DP), engine room and cargo handling.

Norwegian King Receives First Copy of New Dynamic Positioning Book from Kongsberg Maritime at Nor-Shipping

King Harald V of Norway passed by the Kongsberg Maritime stand during the opening day at Nor-Shipping 2015 to receive the first copy of a brand new book that charts Kongsberg Maritime's role in the development of Dynamic Positioning (DP) for the maritime and offshore industry. The book, titled 'The Jewel in the Crown', was launched Tuesday at a press conference during Nor-Shipping.

Kongsberg Maritime navigation portfolio expands with new standardised product line

Kongsberg Maritime unveils a new navigation portfolio that complements its existing K-Bridge Integrated Navigation System (INS). K-Nav is a new navigation product family tailored for the SOLAS market and meeting all mandatory requirements from respective flag states. In parallel to the launch of K-Nav, Kongsberg Maritime is also introducing upgrades to K-Bridge INS, which is designed for vessels with demanding navigation and manoeuvring needs.
